Striking a Balance
JadeXGreene interviews award-winning Big Bear
As I sat down with the award-winning Big Bear, I was certainly greeted with a big, beautiful bear of a man. I was excited to talk to him about life behind the camera when the smile he gave me lit up his hazel eyes and made me melt.
How does a man with such warm energy go from working as a professional cuddler to being in the porn industry? “Touch is always important to me,” Big Bear divulged. “And I like making people feel good, and I’m an exhibitionist so I like showing off. So all those things together, it’s like, hey, I get to do what I love to do with people and show off to everybody.” Plus he’s always been good at sex, he explained, matter-of-factly.
And his sexual prowess is clear as day in his content. Bear works with a variety of identities and bodies, leaving not only his fans but each of his scene partners satisfied and coming back for more, as made obvious by how many repeat scene partners he has! One stunning repeat scene partner, PiggyRose, and he both pushed for the Duo Streamer Award at this year’s XBiz Awards and yet, both powerful performers instead came away with their own solo awards! I asked Big Bear what it was like receiving the Male Streamer of the Year award and he reported that he was shocked to win.
Despite his talent and focus on his fans, Big Bear didn’t expect to win when he was originally nominated. The other talented cam models he was up against have “muscles and tattoos and giant cocks” and have been in the industry for up to 15 years or more whereas Big Bear had only been focused on camming for the past six months (despite having been doing porn since 2021). He was sure he was the underdog. But that’s when Bear realized something… All the other talented men he was up against were very similar and he was an outlier in his own category. They would all be pulling votes among each other and he could pull in everything else! Plus, Big Bear gives a hell of a show. “I don’t sit there and tease,” he boasted. “You’re getting a porn show, basically, when you come into my stream.” And when the moment came that his name was called, he sprinted up onto the XBiz stage and announced that “this proves that there’s room in the industry for big guys” to much applause!
However, that category win didn’t quite sit right with Big Bear. I found it interesting that he wanted to leave that category for the traditionally handsome men with trim bodies and muscles and tattoos. He told me he hopes that XBiz will create a BHM category, a Big Handsome Man category, so that the streamers who were disrupted this year can have their deserved honors as usual, but the industry can shift and broaden to honor and admire the beautiful big bodies doing sexy work out there.
And speaking of sexy work, Bear will be the first to put in the work. Even at the XBiz Awards event, he was streaming the entire time instead of lounging by the pool. “I never expected (sex work) to be easy,” he says sincerely. “Its very admin work heavy, editing, and prep, being camera ready, etc…” he rattles off, sounding tired just thinking of how many complex pieces go into creating one piece of content. “The opportunity is really what’s exciting to me,” Bear explains. I asked about that exhaustion. “I work an 8-hour job but really the rest of my life, I’m doing this,” Bear tells me. “I’m my own boss. It’s really hard to balance streaming and porn content. Streamer mentality is: get on all the time.” but those hours are when he would be editing or posting his content to his OnlyFans or DarkFans or LoyalFans… The number of websites he manages is truly dizzying. He would love to get to the point where he could quit his full-time job and go all in on sex work. “That’s 8 hours I’m buying back from myself. I could build my schedule how I want it. It’s trickier because I’m balancing a lot of things. And if I fail it’s my own fault too.” Big Bear went on to explain how a lot of content creators blame a lot of external factors such as algorithms and customer bases but he says that “all you gotta do is keep showing up. Some of it is effort and time and some of it is the right effort and being strategic. People expect it to be easy. It’s hard to put in two hours a day and actually make a decent living.”
So where does he put his effort? How many jobs does it truly take to do one job of being Big Bear? Social media manager and marketing is number one, he explained. Being the compliance manager for paperwork takes up a lot of his time as well due to each site having different rules. Uploading on actual sites probably slides in at number three. Editing takes a long time and Bear is still perfecting his skills. Of course, each creator is their own videographer, director, and producer. Figuring out logistics takes a significant amount of time such as when will testing occur, travel, food, scheduling, what is the budget. Bookkeeping is a constant job. Platform management can be tricky with the number of platforms Bear is working with. And of course, actually responding to fans in the DMs. And that’s before we even talk about filming or signing on to cam!
With all that work on his shoulders, I asked Big Bear about support. His attitude turned somber. “It’s all blood sweat and tears,” Bear admitted. As a sex worker myself, I know first-hand that sex work is an isolating job. Getting support from partners or family members outside of the business can be a struggle. “They just think you’re selling feet pics online or something,” Bear agreed with me. But when reality sets in for the outside party, it can be very different. And sometimes the challenges we face as sex workers aren’t sex-work-related, Big Bear pointed out, but when we have such a scrutinized job that comes up when seeking support, resources become scarce.
While scrolling social media, I found Bear posting thoughtfully.
“Social media is a hell of a magic trick. From the outside, it can look like everyone is rich, happy, booked, busy, and living some endless party life. Mansions. Beaches. Sailboats. VIP sections. Gucci. Louis Vuitton. Big smiles. Bigger personalities. And sometimes, yeah, there are flashes of that rockstar life. But a lot of the time, the person you’re putting on a pedestal is still just a regular human being trying to survive. They might work at a diner during the week and make $500 a month from their socials. They might be smiling in photos while dealing with depression, chronic illness, bankruptcy, a failing relationship, housing insecurity, or the absolute worst season of their life. The image is not always the reality. Some people are out here looking glamorous while quietly falling apart. Some are trying to build something from nothing. Some are one bad month away from disaster. And some of those “once in a lifetime” trips or luxury moments? They’re fun, beautiful, and exciting — but they might also be something they’ll be financially recovering from for a long time. So be inspired, sure. Enjoy the fantasy. Celebrate people when they win. But don’t forget that behind the posts, the angles, the outfits, and the highlight reels, we’re all just real people. Messy. Tired. Hopeful. Scared. Trying. Nobody’s life is as perfect as it looks online.”

For now, Big Bear continues seeking the balance between life and work while he continues to build his fanbase as he works in more sectors of the sex industry. He has dastardly plans to create more cinematic, high-quality porn, both passionate porn for women and depraved fetish-fulfilling masterpieces.
